Background

Our team was tasked with designing an app that addresses an unconventional or overlooked problem.
We chose to reimagine how users discover music.

My impact

As project manager, I oversaw the majority of the research and design process, establishing team roles, responsibilities, and project timelines to keep us on track. I contributed heavily to the app development, taking it from initial rough sketches through wireframes to our final working prototype. My design focus was primarily on functionality and features, determining what the app could actually do and how users would interact with those capabilities to discover new music.

Solution

Using our research, competitive analysis, and user personas, we developed a new approach to music discovery that prioritizes engagement and social connection. We created a swipe-based interface where users swipe left or right to like or dislike songs, turning music discovery into a fun, gamified experience. Playlist functionality allows users to revisit and organize songs they've discovered, while profile and friend features introduce a social layer that lets users share their musical tastes and discover what their friends are listening to. The final product transformed music discovery from a passive activity into an interactive, social experience that keeps users coming back.
