Background

Our team of seven was tasked with redesigning both the thermostat interface and the accompanying app for the Google Nest using only two keywords, green and affordable.

My impact

As the team's content strategist, I ensured our design decisions stayed grounded in research findings and user testing results, keeping the team aligned with data-driven insights rather than assumptions. I played a key role in the visual redesign of the thermostat interface and helped with the construction of our physical prototype. In the final phase, I helped refine our deliverables to maintain consistency within our established visual design language and ensure a cohesive final presentation.

Solution

Using user testing to inform our decisions, we created a cohesive eco-friendly experience across both platforms. The refreshed visual design used whites and greens with organic elements, while an improved scheduling system and new energy dashboard made it easier for users to save money and track their environmental impact. The end result was a redesigned Nest experience that empowers users to live more consciously by making energy and cost savings both visible and achievable.
